New rooms at Tirimbina Lodge

Once again we are pleased to share with you the good news of improvements in our organization.

At the beginning of February we opened six deluxe rooms (Coquette) at our Lodge.  The rooms, located near the Sarapiquí River and surrounded by beautiful gardens, have A/C, private bath, Wi-Fi, telephone, radio alarm clock, safe deposit box, and a small private terrace with chairs and a view of our gardens where it is possible to see various species of birds, including the elusive and beautiful black-crested Coquette hummingbird, which gives its name to the rooms.

Added to the existing rooms, Coquette raises the number of rooms at the Lodge to 18. As an alternative, if you require quality, comfortable rooms but at lower cost, we have three Ficus rooms with quadruple occupancy with bunks, fan, private bath, hot water and Wi-Fi.

The Lodge has additional services to make your stay more complete – a restaurant with a capacity of 80, a lounging rancho with hammocks and rocking chairs, a souvenir shop and 24-hour security.

We are proud to also tell you that the first year that the Tirimbina participated in the evaluation by the Sustainability Department of the ICT, it received 4 leaves of sustainability, 5 leaves being the maximum amount that can be attained and the Ecological Blue Flag for Natural Protected Spaces with three stars for three consecutive years. Finally, in holding to our promise of the sustainability of our operations, we have begun the process of construction of a biodigestor.

And our cocoa plantation has the Sustainable Production Certificate by the Rainforest Alliance for our Chocolate Tour as solid examples of the sustainability efforts committed to by the Reserve.

Such recognition, which is a great responsibility, encourages us to keep growing as an organization and to continue our work in the field of conservation, research and environmental education, with which we hope to contribute to building a better Costa Rica.
