What is our mission?

The mission of the Tirimbina Rainforest Center is to protect a resource of exceptional biodiversity through environmental education and scientific research which promotes conservation.


What is the tour schedule?

The opening hours for Self-Guided Walks (without a local guide) are between 7:00am and 5:00pm. Reservations are not necessary.
For the following activities, prior reservations are required and you need to be ready 10 minutes before the tour departure time.

Natural History Walk: 8:00am, 10:00am, 1:30pm and 3:00pm

Night Hike: 7:30 pm

Bird Watching Tour: From 6:30am until 10:00am

Frog Tour: 7:30 pm

Bat Program: 7:30 pm

Chocolate Day Tour: 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm

Chocolate Night Tour: 7:30pm

Eco-education activities are generally offered in the morning.

How to get to Tirimbina?

What clothing should I wear and what do I need to bring?

For your own safety it is essential to wear closed shoes or boots to go into the forest.
Optional items to bring: camera, poncho or umbrella, insect repellent, binoculars, water. For night activities please bring a flashlight.
If you are not bringing a raincoat or umbrella, then don't forget to bring an extra set of lightweight clothes; remember we're in the rainforest.

What facilities does Tirimbina offer?

Do you offer accommodation?


We offer two lodging options:

  • Tirimbina Rainforest Lodge: The Lodge has three different areas with rooms, so you may choose which location best meets your needs according to the purpose of your visit.

    • The Lodge is a 2-star accommodation and has 4 tourism sustainability leaves.

  • The Field Station is a perfect place for those who like to be more in touch with nature. It is located 7km from the center of La Virgen.
